On June 25, 2021, Standing Committee on Veterinary Education (SCoVE), International Veterinary Students' Association (IVSA) Paklihawa successfully conducted its fifth episode of Career Campfires entitled "Problem Based Approach to Clinical Case Solving" via online platform through Zoom. In this episode of Career Campfires, Prof. Dr Dinesh Kumar Singh (Adjunct Professor- IAAS, TU) served as the guest speaker.
The program was inaugurated by Ms. Maadhabi Pokhrel(Editor, IVSA Paklihawa) and was handled by Mr. Alok Dhakal (SCoVE Coordinator, IVSA Paklihawa). The whole episode was divided into two sessions. In the first session, there was a presentation from the guest speaker Prof. Dr Dinesh kumar Singh. And the second session was Q/A session , where all the queries dropped by the participants were answered .
Dr.Singh gave a very insightful presentation and cleared the procedure of handling all types of clinical cases from its disease diagnosis to treatment. He even pointed out the very common mistakes carried out by many veterinarians during their initial approach to clinical cases. He explained how easy it is to be confused by the symptoms shown by the animals while diagnosing the diseases and how deeply should we think and move for the appropriate treatment.
The presentation was very detailed, informative and a complete package for all the veterinarians and especially for the emerging veterinarians. He beautifully explained the concept of pattern recognition approach, problem-based clinical reasoning, pattern based tunnel vision, diagnostic errors and SOAP (Subjective, Objective, Assessment, Plan) for any kind of clinical approach for a case.
The session lasted for about two hours with a total of 65 participants. The program was formally ended with some remarkable words from Mr. Ashwini Kumar Jha(Exchamge Officer, IVSA Paklihawa).
