Along with this, some of the drugs used as anaesthesia and the necessary precautions to be taken while injecting any kind of anaesthetic drug to specific area of the body were also highlighted. Displaying pictures of some of the cases like Rumenotomy, umbilical hernia, tumour, abscess and many more during his field experience, the speaker attempted to give an overview of different surgeries performed on different animals and the major reasons for performing them. He continued with the simple definition of C-section as it is the surgical management of dystocia in cattle in which uterus is exteriorized to take out of the young one from the pregnant animal. This also included the major goals of C-section and indications as well. Criteria to diagnose the dystocia before moving towards surgery were well elaborated. The speaker also threw light on appropriate steps to be followed before surgery like aseptic preparation of the surgical area, preoperative medications such as NSAIDs and epidural anaesthesia and some indispensable surgical techniques. Owner must be made aware about the preoperative dietary preparation and about all the aseptic measures to be applied in course of surgery. He also believes that pre-test of every equipment and the sedatives is necessary before the surgery. Furthermore, the location of L-block for both flank and non-flank approach, restraining skills, depth of incision, kind of suture everything was explained one by one very smoothly. He also added, once the surgery is finished post operative care such as cleaning of wound, use of ointments and antimicrobial medications, fluid therapy to the operated animal were of utmost importance because any kind of negligence would create unavoidable problem. Some of the complications mentioned were Peritonitis, wound breakdown, Mastitis, Metritis and sometimes death. But these complications would only be seen if a proper protocol of surgery was not applied and the prognosis was heavily dependent on case selection, sanitation of farm, surgeon and individual animal. He also urged to all the new graduates not to perform the surgery without any supervision since lack of experience and full knowledge may result further complications. Overall, the presentation displayed was a complete package, full of appropriate guidelines from which participants would have a general idea on how to perform the C-section. The content of the speakers presentation would never be found in any books since it was entirely based upon his experience working on field for a very long time.
