COVID-19 CRISIS COMFORT: ANIMAL HUNGER RELIEF AND COVID-19 AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

Amidst the continuous effect of COVID-19, and the prohibitory order applied in various areas all over Nepal, International Veterinary Students' Association (IVSA) Paklihawa along with Rotaract Club of Lumbini Buddha conducted a week long campaignentitled "COVID-19 Crisis Comfort: Animal Hunger Relief and Covid-19 Awareness Campaign". This joint collaboration campaign took place in Bhairahawa city area where the street animals were mainly targeted to give food and awareness to the people in the surrounding.

The "COVID-19 Crisis Comfort: Animal Hunger Relief and COVID-19 Awareness Campaign” was started from 16th June, 2021 and continued every day until 22nd June, 2021. In these 7 days, the volunteers were able to feed more than 1050 street dogs and 120 street cattle wandering around the streets of Bhairahawa city. Street dogs were mainly fed with milk, rice, bread and biscuits, and the street cattle were fed with chapati and pauroti. Moreover, the volunters also distributed mask and sanitizers along with the practical demonstration and awareness on the proper use of masks and sanitizers.

A lot of helping hands also contributed in the week long campaign. Both the organizations are grateful for the helping hands.

1. Bhisma KC provided Sanitizer

2. Club member Rtr. Y.P Acharya provided 4 packets of masks.

3. Club First VP Rtr. ArunAdhikariprovided financial support.

4. Rtr. KapilChapagain, Charter President, RotaractClub of LumbiniBouddha for his assistance

Though both the organizations have successfully completed their weeklong campaign by feeding the street animals, these animals are obviously going to starve and suffer in coming days. So, this campaign was merely a small incentive and  effort to let other people know, how many animals around us are in need and what change can our small effort bring out to their life. Both the organization urges people in the surrounding to contribute in helping animals around them no matter what they are, pet or street animals.
