National Poultry Day 2080 celebration

On the occasion of National Poultry Day 2080, the members of IVSA Paklihawa went to nearby poultry farms of college vicinity to better understand how poultry management is done, what systems are used, what practices are followed, the similarities and differences within theory and the one in practice. The members visited Daunney Poultry Breeding Farm which specializes in rearing broiler parents, particularly COB-500, with a capacity of 12,000-18,000 birds. In-depth insights were gained from Giriraj Thapa Magar, the farm in-charge with 16 years of experience. The farm excels in various aspects, including deep litter rearing systems, vaccination protocols, concentrate feed production, and exporting day-old chicks. The rearing process involves bringing in 6-8-month-old adults, initiating laying at 24 weeks, and culling at 40 weeks. The farm maintains a 1:9 male-to female ratio. Seasonal management includes coolers for summers. The visit highlighted well-aligned theoretical and practical knowledge, showcasing the positive trajectory of the Nepalese poultry industry and suggesting a promising opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs.
