Rabies Week Celebration: School Awareness, Street Drama, Pamphlet Distribution and Mass Vaccination

IVSA Rampur celebrated "Rabies Week" focusing on the zoonotic importance and the ways to nullify its prevalence through School awareness, Street Drama and Vaccination at different places along with the vision of GARC(Global Alliance For Rabies Control) to make rabies #ZEROBY30.

The program was officially started from 22nd of September and was concluded on 28th of September( World Rabies Day 2018). The following are the schedule of the activities done:

Day 1: The rabies week celebration was officially started from 22nd september where presentation regarding "Restraining techniques and vaccination schedules in dogs" which was delivered by Assoc.Prof Dipesh Kumar Chettri, Director of Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Agriculture and Forestry university. Veterinary enthusiastic students from all semester were a part of it.

Day 2: On 23rd of september School Awarness was conducted on Rampur School highlighting the zoonotic importance of rabies and 2018 WRD theme "Share the message. Save a life". Students from grade 9 and 10 were included in the presentation so that they  be able to spread the meaasge regarding rabies.

Day 3: On 24th of september School Awarness was conducted on Shree Kamaldevi secondary school highlighting the zoonotic importance of rabies and 2018 WRD theme "Share the message. Save a life". Students from grade 9 and 10 were included in the presentation so that they  be able to spread the meaasge regarding rabies.

Day 4: On 25th of september Rabies vaccination was done at Saughat Chowk withan aim to target the street dogs and regarding the fact that rabies is 99% fatal and 100% preventable.

Day 5: On 26th of september Street drama focusing on the impact of rabies on human health along with the measures to be adopted to prevent its transmission was conducted at Saughat Chowk. Also due to certain constrains the Drama scheduled to be done on Rampur bazzar was shifted to Saughat Chowk.

Day 6: On 27th of september School Awarness was conducted on Shree Seskhanta Adhikari Secondary School, Bijayanagar where multiple presentations were delivered regarding the impact of rabies on animal and human along with its zoonotic aspects and measures to be adopted to prevent it.

Day 7: On 28th of september i.e; World Rabies Day 2018 grand vaccination for street dogs were done also the street drama were conducted on Bijayanagar chowk focusing on the theme "Share the message.Save a life" along with the ways to nullify rabies and ways to prevent its transmission since rabies is 100% preventable. Also the closing of a week long program was done with the concluding statement to make rabies ZEROBY30.
The formal program concluded the week long project on rabies under the chairmanship of Mr. Amrit Pandey, President of IVSA Rampur and with presence of Prof. Dr. Hom Bahadur Basnet as chief guest, President of ward no.16 Bharatpur metropolitan city as special guests and Dr. Bishnu Hari Sharma (Charter EO, IVSA Nepal NMO), Mr. Khim Bahadur Ale (IPP IVSA Rampur), Mr. Binod Pokhrel (President, IVSA Nepal) other social leader and activist as guest.
