VIRTUAL CONFERENCE ON "ANTIMICROBIAL RESISTANCE : ONE HEALTH APPROACH" ON THE OCCASSION OF "WORLD ANTIMICROBIAL WEEK-2020"

On 21 st November, the 4th day of World Antimicrobial Resistance Week (WAAW), International Veterinary
Students’ Association (IVSA) Paklihawa
and Alliance Against AMR (AAA), jointly organized an online
virtual conference on “Antimicrobial Resistance: One Health Approach” with national and international
the personnel serving as the keynote speaker to the conference. This conference tried to address the global
and local scenario of antimicrobials and antimicrobial resistance and different plans and policies, and
researches in human and animal health sectors in One Health Approach.
Presenting our national and international speakers to highlight and expand the cause, effect, mitigating
plans & action and other various aspects related to AMR, a three hours long conference was held which
was hosted by MS. Supriya K.C(Executive Member, AAA)

The conference was formally started with a welcome speech by Mr. Kushal Acharya (President, Student
Working Committee, AAA). After the welcome speech, we had a brief session from our guest speakers
and the session was moderated by M.S. Prakriti Grung(Executive Member, AAA). In the first-ever online virtual AMR conference,
the chief guest was Dr. Satish Kumar Deo (President: Alliance Against AMR) and our guest speakers for
the conference were;

1. Mr. Neil Vezeau (Trusty of International Student of One Health Alliance)
2.Mr.Ram Prasad Adhikari (Assistant Professor of Microbiology, Nepal Medical College)

Dr. Deo explained about the National Action Plans about the use of drugs administration and the
condition of antimicrobial use and misuse practiced in Nepal. Mr. Vezeau presented on the
antimicrobials use and misuse in the veterinary sector globally and the One Health approach. And Mr.
Adhikari
elaborated on the research on the family Enterobacteriaceae.

And the conference was finally ended with a speech from Ms. Usha Khatri on One Health Approach
(SCOH Coordinator, IVSA Paklihawa). There were about 50 attendees and they had the great pleasure of
learning new things. The session was recorded and later uploaded to the YouTube channel of IVSA Paklihawa.
