14th Rabies Week Celebration

Focusing on collaboration, education, awareness, and vaccination, IVSA Rampur has successfully completed the celebration of "Rabies week" from 22nd to 28th September on the occasion of World Rabies Day. 

From the day of its establishment, IVSA Rampur had been doing numerous programs like street dramas, vaccination of dogs, school awareness, quiz and
presentation session, etc. on the occasion of World Rabies Day. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we were unable to conduct these programs at community-level like
before, but we had come up with several programs in this chaos exploiting the virtual platforms which had help us to meet the theme of this year. Here is the list of programs that we had successfully conducted in a week long virtual celebration of 14th World Rabies Day.

1. Slogan Writing Competition on the theme of  "End  Rabies:  Collaborate and  Vaccinate" from 22nd September to 2nd October.

2. Online School Awareness on 23rd of September byMr Saurabh Gelal to the students of Genuine Secondary School, Bhaktapur, and by Miss Yashoda Khadka to the students of Golmeswor Secondary School, Tamakoshi-4, Dolakha.On    23rd September.

3. Virtual presentation session on the topic 'A Comprehensive Overview Of Rabies' by Mr. Krishal Shrestha, an enthusiastic student currently in his 6th semester of B.V.Sc and A.H, AFU will be presenting on the topic on 24th September.

4. Radio talk on Rabies Awareness on 25th September by Miss Dikshya Khanal, Exchange Officer of IVSA Rampur hosted by Miss Ganga Bishwokarma at the program "Janachaso" on "Radio Darpan 99.2 Mhz" located at Madhyabindu-7, Nawalpur and by Miss Yashoda Khadka, Executive Committee Member of IVSA Rampur hosted by Mr. Dipak Basnet on the weekly program "Swasthya Sarokar" which was broadcasted on "Tamakoshi FM 95.00mhz" located at Tamakoshi-4, Dolakha. 

5. Online Webinar on "Status Of Rabies Vaccine Production In Nepal" presented by our Resource Person Dr. Umesh Dahal, Chief Veterinary Officer at National Vaccine Production Laboratory, Nepal on 26th September.

6. Online School Awareness on27th September by Mr. Pradip Raj Pant to the students of class 8 of Amar Jyoti Namuna Higher Secondary School, Birendranagar-12, Surkhet and by Miss. Dikshya Khanal  to the students of class 9 and 10 of Nawalpur Secondary Boarding School, Madhyabindu-7, Nawalpur.

7. Online Presentation Session on Rabies - Control And Elimination Strategies presented by Dr. Inga McDermott, (BVMS, MRCVS), Clinical Director at One Health  Foundation.

8. Rabies day online Quiz on 28th September.

The more work is still to be done to reach the "Zero by 30" goal to eliminate the dog-mediated rabies by 2030.
