CELEBRATION OF AMR WEEK-2021(18th November,2021 to 24th November, 2021)

On the auspicious occasion of " world AMR Week 2021" or ”World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (WAAW) 2021” which is celebrated from 18th November to 24th November, Standing Committee on One Health (SCOH),IVSA Paklihawa organized a week-long events with the theme" "Spread Awareness, Stop Resistance". This week long celebration  was aimed to increase awareness of global antimicrobial resistance and to encourage best practices among the general public, health workers and policy makers to avoid the further emergence and spread of drug-resistant infections.

DAY 1(18th NOVEMBER)- WEEK INAUGURATION:

Standing Committee on One Health (SCOH),IVSA Paklihawa inaugurated  the week- long events on 18th of November by releasing a schedule with different activities for 7days .

Day 2nd and 3rd (November 19/20, 2021)- online Facts sharing:

On 2nd and 3rd day of Antimicrobial Resistance week (November 19/20, 2021) with Theme : 'Spread Awareness, Stop Resistance', Standing Committee On One Health(SCOH),IVSA Paklihawa shared different social media facts on their official Facebook page and Instagram handle to Spread awareness against the Antimicrobial resistance and to decrease its haphazard use.

Day 4th 9November 21, 2021- High School Awareness phase 1:

Standing Committee on One Health (SCOH), International Veterinary Students' Association (IVSA) Paklihawa conducted  phase I of the high school awareness program on the occasion of "World Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Week- 2021" at Bhairahawa Model Secondary School, Siddharthanagar-5, Rupandehi.

On November 21, 150 students from grades 11 and 12 were made aware about the resistance developed by microbes, its causes, and the preventative measures. Ms. Dibyanoor Shrestha (Editor, IVSA Paklihawa) and Mr. Anurag Silwal (SCOH Coordinator) warned and educate the  students about AMR and its effects through a PowerPoint presentation.

In the campaign, students participated in QnA sessions, and the best answers were rewarded with chocolates.

Day 5th (November 22, 2021)- High School Awareness phase 2:

Standing Committee On One Health(SCOH), IVSA Paklihawa successfully conducted phase- II of high school awareness program at "Pashupati Shiksha Mandir, Siddharthanagar-6, Rupandehi" on the 5th day of "World Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Week- 2021.".

Students from grades 9 & 10 were made aware about the resistance developed by microbes, its causes, and the preventive measures on 22nd November.The detailed explanations about AMR was given by  Mr. Anurag Silwal (SCOH Coordinator, IVSA Paklihawa), Ms. Usha Khatri (Secretary, IVSA Paklihawa), and Ms. Dibyanoor Shrestha (Editor, IVSA Paklihawa) through a PowerPoint presentation.

Students were encouraged to participate in Q&A sessions, and the best answers were rewarded with chocolates.

Day 6th November 23, 2021 falling Walls lab

On 23rd November 2021 I.e 6th day of AMR week -2021, SCOH, IVSA Paklihawa conducted  "Falling Walls Lab" ; a slide presentation competition. On this competition presenters were asked to participate by remaining within the following criterias:

 

Criteria :

1. Presenter should present his/ her presentation in 3 minutes.

2. Slide preparation should be strictly done on this template provided by organizer (provided in docs file where you can edit)

3. Proper references should be provided.

4. The number of slides should not exceed more than 5 slides excluding title and reference page.

5. The presentation slide should be sent to email: scoh.ivsapaklihawa@gmail.com till 22nd Nov 11:59 PM, late submission will not be entertained and participation will not be valid one.

6. Registration Fee: Rs. 30 should be sent to E-sewa ID 9865005620 and screenshot should be messaged at IVSA Paklihawa official Fb page.

The whole program was conducted by Ms. Usha Khatri (Secretary, IVSA Paklihawa) under the chairmanship of Mr. Prakash Rawal (President, IVSA Paklihawa) and  was coordinated by Mr. Anurag Silwal (Coordinator, Standing Committee on One Health).

In this program , Prof. Dr. Ram Bhajal Mandal (Campus chief, IAAS Paklihawa) served as a chief guest and  Dr. Sirjan Bastola (Assistant Prof. IAAS Paklihawa & advisor of IVSA Paklihawa), Dr. Suman Kumar Singh (Assistant Prof. IAAS Paklihawa) ,Ms. Suva Shree Sharma (Former President IVSA Paklihawa), Mr. Ashwini Kumar Jha (Former Exchange Officer, IVSA Paklihawa), Ms. Madhaabi Pokhrel (Exchange Officer, IVSA Nepal) were presented as guests.

Total 10 participants from both veterinary and Agriculture faculty gave their presentation by remaining within the time period of 3 minutes for each. All the presentation presented by the participants were judged by Dr. Sirjan Bastola (Assistant Prof. IAAS Paklihawa) and Dr. Suman Kumar Singh (Assistant Prof. IAAS Paklihawa) . The winners of the competition were:

Ms.Gresha Suwal(Agriculture-6th semester, IAAS Paklihawa) and Ms.Binita Suwal (Agriculture-6th semester, IAAS Paklihawa)

The winners of the competition were honored with cash prize RS.1000 and Medals.

Day 7th (November 24, 2021)- Rally and closing ceremony:

On 24 November, SCOH, IVSA Paklihawa concluded a week-long campaign (18 November-24 November) with an Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Rally at Siddharthanagar-1, Bhairahawa.

Through this program, residents were made aware of the harmful effects of antimicrobial resistance caused by the overuse and misuse of antimicrobials. The rally began at 3:30 pm from  `IAAS, Paklihawa, and circled Meudihawa and finally ended at the college premises . Circulars containing information about antimicrobial resistance, its causes, and prevention methods were distributed to locals and pasted on poles for passersby as part of the rally.

Students from Veterinary and Agriculture faculty of IAAS,Paklihawa and some of the local farmers were involved in the RALLY program.
