Celebration of Antimicrobial Awareness Week 2023

With the motive of raising awareness among individuals every year IVSA Paklihawa celebrated Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Awareness week from 18th-24th of November. Following programs were scheduled embracing the theme "Preventing Antimicrobial Resitance Together" and celebrated successfully.

Day 1: Instragram Quiz + Blue Campaign

As scheduled, on the first day we called for the photos on blue dress for the Blue Campaign to show solidarity on AMR.
Also, we conducted a quiz on Instagram on 18th November at 8:00 pm. Questions related to AMR were asked through the official Instagram handle of IVSA Paklihawa. Many users appeared the quiz and this helped to spread knowledge on AMR.

Day 2 & Day 3: Infographics Release
As scheduled we released infographics on AMR through our social media handles to reach
enormous number of people.

Day 4: Pamphlet Awareness in Urban Areas

As scheduled, on the 4th day of WAAW 2023, we launched Pamplet awareness on urban areas. We pasted around 200 pamplets in Ranigau, Nayagau and Universal Medical College area. We included awareness content on the pamplets targeting general publics. We also pasted our pamplets on Pharmacy of Medical college area. Similarly, pamplets were also attached on Auto Rickshaw running in Bhairahawa area. We targeted to reached around thousands of people with our pamplet awareness.

Day 5: Webinar on AMR
We ended the week long WAAW 2023 campaign with interesting webinar. The webinar was held on Google Meet which was hosted by Mr. Sumiran Pokhrel, (Secretary, IVSA Paklihawa) and chaired by Mr. Sachin Shrestha (President, IVSA Paklihawa). We were delighted by the presence of Dr. Yuvraj Panth (President, NVA Lumbini Province) and Dr. Bishal Pathak (Veterinary doctor at VHLSEC, Baitadi). Our esteemed speaker Dr. Bibek Regmi highlighted the topic, starting with the technique to address Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and decrease Antimicrobial Usage (AMU) in poultry. He mentioned to focus on maintaining cleanliness, implementing vaccination programs, and enforcing biosecurity measures. Morever, Dr. Regmi recommended to Implement a combination of practices such as maintaining proper hygiene, robust vaccination programs, stringent biosecurity measures, improved housing conditions, selective breeding for disease resistance,high-quality nutrition, regular monitoring, education, veterinary oversight, meticulous record- keeping, exploring alternative therapies, and ensuring regulatory compliance can collectively contribute to responsible antimicrobial use in poultry farming. After the presentation session, we had engaging Q&A session. After the Q&A session the program was ended by Mr. Sachin Shrestha.

On the last day, we also portrayed the captured pictures as compiled video. We were delighted by the solidarity shown by huge number of people for our Go Blue Campaign on World Antimicrobial Awareness Week 2023. We celebrated this week with the theme Preventing Antimicrobial Resistance Together. People showed their support by wearing blue dress during their daily activities.
