STUDY CIRCLE; SESSION- IX ENTITLED "TRADITIONAL APPROACHES IN VETERINARY MEDICINE"

On 3rd July, 2021, Saturday, StandingCommitteeonVeterinaryEducation (SCoVE), International Veterinary Students'Association (IVSA) Paklihawa organised a webinar entitled "Traditional Approaches in Veterinary Medicine" in the online mode via Zoom platform. The session was about the highlighting the approaches that can be used to any clinical conditions  which is far away from a good medical facility or professionals and can be found being practised in the rural society since ages.

 

The guest speaker for the ninth session of the Study Circle was Dr.Rubina Shah [Veterinary instructor, CTEVT (TECS programme, Udayapur)]. The session was inaugurated by Ms. Maadhabi Pokhrel (Editor, IVSA Paklihawa) along with a welcome speech from Mr. Anurag Silwal (SCoW Committee Member, IVSA Paklihawa). The whole program was divided into two sessions. In the first session, we had a presentation from our guest speaker Dr Shah and the second session was Question and Answer session, where all the queries dropped by our participants were answered. The second session was hosted by Ms. Usha Khatri (SCOH Coordinator, IVSA Paklihawa).

In the first session, Dr Shah explained about the use of herbal medicines, Acupuncture, Chiropractic medicine and Nutritional therapy in the treatment of animal diseases and infections. She exposed the traditional approaches that can be applied in case of; retention of placenta management of prolapse, repeat bereding, bone fracture, red coloured urine, diarrhoea,Tympany,endoparasites, ectoparasites, FMD, uterine torsion, swine fever and ranikhet. Moreover, she also spoke about the benefits of these approaches over allopathic treatment in cost effectiveness and absence of proper veterinary facility especially in rural areas.

And in the second session all the queries dropped by our participants were explained in detail by our guest speaker DrRubina Shah. The presentation was very detailed, informative and a complete package for all the veterinarians. The program was about one hour long with participation of 35 enthusiastic audience. The program was put to an end with some remarkable words by Mr. AlokDhakal (SCoVE Coordinator, IVSA Paklihawa).
